Abstract

There has not been enough study about prepositions in Turkish language so far. Turkish linguists have not reached a common opinion about prepositions. Linguists working on prepositions have not made a common classification. Linguists have created their own classifications separately. In this study, prepositions in the underline Qur'an translations written in Old Anatolian Turkish are discussed. In this study, Cevâhirul-Asdâf Subline Qur'an Translation, Manisa Copy Subline Qur'an Translation and Sivas Copy Subline Qur'an Translation were examined. General information about Old Anatolian Turkish and translations of the Qur'an is given. The use of these prepositions in Old Anatolian Turkish and their equivalents in Turkey Turkish are given in the table. While prepositions are inflected, they have different meanings when they are connected to the previous noun and pronouns. In this study, it has been researched which meaning is attributed to the prepositions when entering the inflection. This research aims to examine the prepositions in the underline Qur'an translations written in Old Anatolian Turkish, and through which suffixes the prepositions gain meaning by combining with the noun element, and in what ways these prepositions are used. Thus, a large number of examples of the prepositions in question will be collected by subjecting them to various semantic classifications and will facilitate the work of those who will do research on this subject.
